KINGSTON — I’m fairly certain that my parents did right by me when packing a healthy and nutritious lunch each day when I went to school. I can remember eating sandwiches, carrot sticks, apples and an occasional treat like a fruit roll-up. Yes, my mom tried very hard to make sure I ate well.
Once I became a teenager, I begged my parents to give me lunch money instead of bringing a brown bag lunch. I didn’t want to be the only one not eating the cafeteria food. “But Mom, EVERYONE buys their lunch at the cafeteria! NOBODY brings one but me!”
